Patancheru, an industrial town in Medak district, was an outstation of St. John’ Church, Ramachandrapuram, The Andra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) allotted five ( 5 ) acres of land at a subsidised price for socio – educational purposes. Late Fr. Joseph Puthumana SVD started St. Joseph’s School which was blessed on 24 August 1984. The School had about 40 students and 2 teachers. The moving force behind the school was Mr. Jaipal, Sarpanch of Patancheru. At present Fr. Ambrose Beck is the Principal of the School and there are 2400 students studying in the School.
St. Joseph’s Parish was official erected in June 1991 with Fr. Paul Jayakumar as its first Parish Priest. Fr. Cajetan Mascharenhas succeeded him in 1993 and it was under his supervision that a spacious and beautiful Church was constructed and blessed on 2 April 2000 by Archbishop late Samineni Arulappa. At present Fr. Casmir D’Souza is the Parish Priest with Fr. Anthuvan Rosario as the assistant Parish Priest. There are 46 families in the parish with a catholic population of around 190.
The missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), founded by St. Arnold Janssen, started collaborating with SVD Missionaries in Medak district in 1987. A couple of Sisters were assisting in the School, and parish, but from the academic year 2006-2007 they have withdrawn from collaborating in the educational apostolate. The Sisters run a small nursery School, Social apostolate for the domestic workers and a formation program for their candidates at their residence, Pavitratma Sadan.
