VISION – MISSION STATEMENT
Programs /Activities we are thinking to implement
Founder:Rev. Fr. Thomas Akkara SVDstarted the mission in 2000 June. He purchased 11.42 acres of land in 2002. Fr. Pious Thomas SVD completed the construction of the present house, St. Arnold Nivas, in 2006.
We do not have any local Catholics. There are around 30 immigrant Catholics in and around Nizampet. They are working in three schools, a Bank and as a nurse in the government dispensary. They hail from Orissa, Kerala and A.P. (Nalgonda, Vijayawada and Warangal, etc.) On an average, 10 to 15 attend mass on Sundays. For Easter and Christmas over 30 people attend mass. As most of the people are non Telugus who understand English, we conduct everything in English.
Catholic Presence: -This is a non-Christian area though a few Christian denominations (like Church of South India, Methodists) are found here and there. There are no local Roman Catholics here in Nizampet. However, for the last few months, we have been getting 10 to 30 people for holy Mass on Sundays. They belong to Kerala & Orissa states besides a few immigrants from other districts of AP; they are teachers (and their family members) in three local English medium schools.
